Once you get familiar with pay per click, how it works and what the most common terms are, you'll realize it's not as complicated as most think.
Landing Page
You'll often hear marketers refer to a landing page. What they're talking about is the first page a search user visits when clicking on an advertisent. This is what he lands on, which is where the name comes from
So what makes a good landing page, right? The first thing you'll want to do is reassure the visitor that he's on the right page. It's easy to click that back button, and if the landing page isn't what they were expecting to see they'll leave to find what they want.
You'll want to make sure the landing page is relevant to the ad. If you're ad is describing a sale on red shoes, and your landing page is about computers -- you'll just frustrate the search user. You'll get wasted clicks if your landing page isn't a direct reflection of your advertisement.
Quality Score
The quality score is a fairly recent addition to the Adwords platform. It's a rating given to your pay per click keywords, ads and landing pages.
The higher the rating the lower your cost per click will be. It's Google's way of keeping the advertiser's in line so the search user has a good experience.
Keyword Matching
Google has several keyword matching options that give the search engine options to alter your keywords. A broad keyword matching option will allow Google to choose different but relevant keywords to trigger your advertisements.
If you don't want Google to alter your keywords or phrases you can choose the exact matching option. This tells Google to only display your ads when the query is an exact match to your keyword.
